In my preferred solve direction for the Appalachian Footpath Box, I’ve found the most peace in being able to identify at least two meanings or uses for each element on the map that I find to be distinct. Part of this is kind of hedging (i.e. an either-or situation), but for me it’s more about looking at the map from multiple perspective or orientations and then certain objects changing their meaning depending on which perspective I am using.
