I still wonder why the author didn’t just buy two Pokémon cards and photograph them under the same potential copyright / licensing cover he felt comfortable enough with in order to include photographs of the treasure items and to use Pokémon characters in his narrative. The design of the two “representations” seems to be intentional, though I still have not had any “aha” moments when looking at the images.
